13:30 Cheltenham

There is £500,000 up for grabs in the ITV7 - Architect Tips makes his selections.

It’s the final day of the 2024 Cheltenham Festival. Once again, I’ll be on hand to try and navigate you through the ITV7 - there is a boosted prize of £500,000!

Entries must be made by 13:30. Best of luck.

Race 1 - Bunting

BUNTING won his only start on the flat in France, and he looked like a smart prospect when cruising to victory on his hurdles debut at Limerick and is an appealing choice in the Triumph Hurdle

He didn’t enjoy the clearest of runs when stablemate Kargese won the Spring Juvenile Hurdle at Leopardstown but was only beaten a couple of lengths. Being open to improvement, I’m quite confident he will go close.

Race 2 - King Of Kingsfield

The Gordon Elliott-trained KING OF KINGSFIELD must have excellent claims of taking the County Hurdle (Race 3) back home to Ireland.

His form lines have deep substance, and a mark of 140 on handicap debut is conceivably lenient given that he’s finished runner-up twice in Grade 1 company behind Slade Steel (Supreme winner) and Ballyburn (Gallagher winner). Despite the large number of runners, I really like his chances.

Race 3 - High Class Hero

Willie Mullins has a strong hand in the Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle (Race 3), but the one I like is HIGH CLASS HERO

He is unbeaten in five starts for the Irish champion trainer, and there’s good reason to think that he will be even more effective over this longer distance.

Patrick Mullins was quick to put his hand up to ride this horse, and while this is a step up in grade, he does make plenty of appeal in a wide-open renewal.

Race 4 - Fever Dream

A few of these have a chance in the Racing TV Handicap Hurdle (Race 4), but FEVER DREAM took a step forward when finishing fourth over an inadequate trip on his handicap debut at Uttoxeter back in October and has been left on an unchanged mark.

The longer trip and first-time tongue-tie can see improvement from the six-year-old and come out on top.

Race 5 - Gerri Colombe

Galopin Des Champs will be extremely hard to beat in his bid for back-to-back Cheltenham Gold Cups (Race 5). However, I’ll take a chance on Gordon Elliott’s GERRI COLOMBE

He does have ground to make up on the former, having finished a distant second to the defending champion in the Savills Chase, but this extra yardage and stiff finish will surely see him bridge the gap.

Race 6 - Weigh Anchor

In the Try Woodfordes New Volt IPA Mares' Handicap Hurdle (Race 6), WEIGH ANCHOR might take a bit of beating for the Donald McCain and Brian Hughes combination.

This four-year-old finished runner-up three times in succession on the flat and took a step forward from her hurdles debut fourth to chase home an odds-on favourite when last spotted. She can open her account on the back of wind surgery.

Race 7 - Ferns Lock

David Christie’s FERNS LOCK is a confident choice in the St. James's Place Festival Challenge Cup Open Hunters' Chase (Race 7), the final race on today’s ITV7.

He is a strong traveller who likes to race prominently and was last seen giving an eight-length beating to Romeo Magico.

David Christie and Barry O'Neill have come close to winning this previously, and this could be the time a first festival winner awaits them.
