FEIVEL (best price 4-1) found the combination of 3m1f and an in-form Dan Skelton rival just beyond his reach on his latest outing at Warwick but now returning to s C&D which brought about a return to form back in January, Stuart Edmonds’ inmate can repeat the dose in this slightly easier affair on paper.

Fitted with the blinkers for the first time when lining up here back in January, it soon became apparent his mind was much more focused and even when he looked in danger of relinquishing the lead down the home straight, he kept battling away in determined fashion to repel a whole host of challengers.

Setting out to repeat the dose from the front at the Midland venue 57 days ago, the son of Le Fou had all but Seefin at full stretch turning for home and although he ultimately couldn’t quite put the race to bed as he had done three weeks earlier, his effort in defeat was still a commendable one.

Likely to be the hare to the hounds again today, the nine-year-old should be in a position coming out of the back straight whereby one or two of his rivals are beginning to feel the pinch and from that point onwards it will all boil down to whether he wants it as badly as he did here two months ago.

CERENDIPITY (best price 9-2) goes beyond 2m4f for the first time today, but he has been shaping up as though he might be worth a try over further for a while now and he is a worth risking at the morning odds to find out whether that theory turns out to be the case.

A winner over two miles over today’s course earlier in the season, Sue Smith’s inmate has run creditably on a couple of occasions subsequently and his latest performance behind stable mate Prairie Wolf, produced a time figure on par with the one he achieved when victorious back in November.

Although he proved no match for the winner in the closing stages at the Yorkshire venue, he kept on well enough to finish a respectable third and when the data revealed they first three were trapping along at a fair rate of knots for the grade, his effort reads better than it did at first glance.

Up against five genuine three milers here today, he obviously has questions to ask regarding the trip but hopefully he finds the rhythm of his new discipline more comfortable than of late and he can come home to good effect in the latter stages.
