14:20 Limerick

The Eoin Griffin trained SPLASHING OUT (best priced at 6/4) is top rated in this five runner field and she should prove hard to beat if bouncing back from a below par effort at Leopardstown last time. The six-year-old had previously won over this course and distance by seven lengths off a mark of 108 on heavy ground before finishing 2nd by a short head on her next start off a mark of 116 over this course and distance.

Splashing Out jumped poorly at the Dublin Racing Festival in the valuable Paddy Mullins Mares Handicap Hurdle but should now appreciate the drop in class and the return to Limerick. Mark Walsh takes over on board from 7lb claimer Peter Smithers and she should prove hard to beat off level weights.

16:30 Ascot

This looks a competitive renewal of this Veterans’ Chase but last year’s winner TWO FOR GOLD (best priced at 4/1) looks to hold strong claims off a 1lb lower mark than last term. The Kim Bailey trained eleven-year-old won this race by 3 ½ lengths last season off a mark of 150 having been beaten 45 lengths on his previous start and he once again returns having run poorly last time.

Two For Gold hasn’t shown his form for his previous three starts but it is interesting that he ran really well to finish 2nd at Ascot on his reappearance off a mark of 154 behind Victtorino who is now rated 6lbs higher. Two For Gold is now rated 5lbs lower than that day so if this return to Ascot sparks him back to form then he looks sure to be involved in the finish.
