This looks a weak 0-100 handicap with many struggling recently so preference goes to last-time-out winner TIME TO BITE (best priced at 7/2). The Chris Honour trained nine-year-old has an inconsistent profile but on a going day will prove far too good for his rivals. He won by 8 ½ lengths over this course and distance in December on soft ground when making all in first time blinkers and he repeated those tactics last time at Plumpton when winning by 22 lengths on soft ground with those blinkers re-fitted.

That impressive victory came off a mark of 84 and despite running here off a 10lb higher mark, Time To Bite should prove hard to beat if being allowed an easy lead once again.

The Jeremy Scott stable are in fantastic form currently operating at a 33% strike rate and BAMPTON STAR (best priced at 2/1) should be able to follow up his recent course and distance success. The seven-year-old finished 2nd on his reappearance over hurdles at Lingfield after 311 days off the track before making a winning chasing debut last time by a head off a mark of 86.

Bampton Star was fitted with first time cheekpieces for that course and distance success where he beat a previous winner with the pair pulling 13 lengths clear of the third. A 6lb rise for that victory seems lenient and he should prove hard with Lorcan Williams once again on board.

Bradman sets the standard in this race but could prove vulnerable to an improver in the shape of CHIEFMAN (best priced at 9/4) on his handicap debut. The Archie Watson trained three-year-old showed promise on his three starts in novice/maiden races last season over 7f, 7½f and a mile with his best effort coming here in September when 3rd beaten only 3 ¾ lengths.

Chiefman now steps up in trip to 1m2f for the first time on his handicap debut off an opening mark of 66 which is his first run since a gelding operation. He will no doubt have improved following 196 days off the track and should prove hard to beat off top weight.
