Tuesday Horse Racing Tips from Steve Ryder

The Jennie Candlish trained MOLLY MISCHIEF (best priced at 10/3) finished a close 2nd on her handicap debut over 1m6f here in January and she should prove hard to beat off only a 1lb higher mark. The four-year-old ran with credit in three novice/maiden races for Jessica Macey over trips of 7f and a mile before returning from 286 days to finish 2nd on her stable debut for Jennie Candlish.

Molly Mischief has refused to enter the stalls on her past two attempts which is a slight concern but even if she misses the break she has plenty of time to recover. She was keen during her race over 1m6f so this drop in trip to 1m4f should suit and she should prove hard to beat. 

The early market support for Cloud King on his handicap debut probably means he is much better than an opening mark of 61 but that has pushed SO OBSESSED (best priced at 9/4 insurebet 2 places) out to a much bigger price than expected. The Marco Botti trained three-year-old finished 3rd at Wolverhampton on her handicap debut over 6f before making all when dropped to 5f for the first time at Chelmsford 17 days ago. 

So Obsessed won easily by four lengths at the finish and a 5lb rise seems lenient based on that performance. I rarely back horses in the ‘other markets’ but I feel she has a good chance of winning but would like the insurance of getting money back if she was to finish 2nd. 

Course and distance winner Inexplicable is respected but a chance is taken on SPECIALIST VIEW (best priced at 12/1) on her first start out of novice company. The Chris Dwyer trained four-year-old has finished well beaten in her qualifying runs in 2022/2023 and it seems interesting that connections have kept this 48 rated filly in training having missed 376 days. 

Specialist View only has 2lbs to find with the likes of Storm Asset, Makalu, Struck Gold and Shotley Royale on ratings but is much less exposed and looks worth taking a chance on at the prices.
