I know the gamble failed to land on STAY IF U WANT TO at Catterick last month but that was a big run on his hurdles debut and the front pair pulled nearly 9 lengths clear from the third with the field well strung out in behind. He is open to plenty of improvement off the back of that and should also relish going up in trip here. He could be quite a nice prospect for the yard and I think he’ll be good enough to take this. El Granjero sets the standard after chasing home Lucky Place on hurdles debut and then bumping into a couple of nice types the last twice. He has more to come and is definitely a threat to the selection. Wee Tony also has a squeak but might need more time and experience.

I am really keen on PLAISIR DES FLOS following up here. He took a big step forward to make a winning handicap debut at Sedgefield when last seen and should still be ahead of the assessor even given the subsequent 9lb rise. He was given a confident ride by Jack Hogan and I loved the way he asserted once asked to go and win the race. The field was well strung out in behind which is usually a good sign and he looks progressive. The yard are still going well so there is plenty to like again. Johannes made all the running to open his account at Taunton and looks the danger but he’d want to jump a bit better. Jasmin De Grugy has a bit to prove but also has a chance.
