After catching the eye on handicap debut CRACK THE KODE improved again to hold on well over 6f at this track in the summer last year. He was well backed to follow up at Thirsk but had an awful start out the gate and was never involved. He quickly got back on track over this C&D back in October and given time since he could easily still be ahead of his mark just 3lb higher for this. Kevin Ryan has started the season in good form and that would have to be another positive as his horses are clearly plenty forward. Wichahpi was in good form towards the end of the season winning at Thirsk and Leicester before running well at Newcastle and looks the obvious danger.

This should be a good opportunity for BRIONI to get off the mark. He ran a cracker sent off 40/1 on debut at Sandown and improved again to go down just a neck over this C&D when last seen. He has more to come this season and this looks a good starting point. Jayyash could also be quite a nice colt and only missed a neck on reappearance at Southwell last month. The winner was running well yesterday before hanging badly so the form might not be too bad and he looks the main danger. Hill Spirit has been campaigned over hurdles and is interesting switching to this sphere but the two mentioned above could both be pretty smart so he might be up against it.
