The Bryan Smart trained ZOOM STAR (best priced at 4/1) is a three-time course and winner who looks sure to be involved in the finish if ready for her reappearance. The six-year-old mare has won off marks of 51, 53 and 54 and runs here off a mark of 53 so she looks competitively handicapped. She ended last season with a 4th placed finish off a mark of 54 but she now returns from a 155 day break off 1lb lower.

This heavy ground will prove no concern to Zoom Star and she is expected to prove hard to beat over her favoured course and distance.

Robert Cowell and Fitri Hay landed a gamble with a handicap debutant Cloud King a week ago and DARK DREAMER (best priced at 6/4) has a very similar profile. The three-year-old also had three turf starts as a juvenile before returning from a winter break having been gelded. He actually finished only one place behind Cloud King on their debuts at Goodwood last season and has been given a 1lb higher mark for his handicap debut.

An opening mark of 62 could seriously underestimate Dark Dreamer and he should make a winning handicap debut on his first start on the AW.

Cracker Star looks to hold leading claims in this 0-65 handicap following his unlucky 2nd at Lingfield on his handicap debut but a chance is taken on MAXIM DE WINTER (best priced at 10/1) who makes his handicap debut in this race. The Jonny Portman trained three-year-old finished well beaten in his three starts last season over 7f and a mile but now makes his handicap debut off an opening mark of 65.

Maxim De Winter steps up in trip to 1m4f for the first time and he has also been gelded over the winter. Cracker Star, Cock And Bull and Sun Dancer Girl all finished 2nd on their handicap debuts so a chance is taken that Maxim De Winter can progress past all three.
