Third to one of today’s main players that day, Cuban Cigar, since then the daughter of Secret Singer added to her previous success at the Norfolk venue with another victory at Newcastle and although she came up a little short last time out, her speed figure was once again in-keeping with most of her performances this season. 

Only just behind the subsequent Morebattle 1-2 at Kelso two starts ago, she clearly has enough quality to mix it against the boys but now back among her own sex, confidence is high she can add to her form figures in this sphere that read 121in recent times.

FASCINATING SHADOW (best price 16-1) has been shaping as though he hasn’t quite been seeing out 1m4f here of late and now dropping back down to a trip that might turn out to be slightly more beneficial, Shark Hanlon’s gelding is worth a small interest to see if the experiment pays off. 

On three of his last four starts, the six-year-old has found himself in a position where he has looked quite threatening turning for home but on each occasion, he has weakened at the same point, just over a furlong out, and he has ended up just get run out of the money. 

Working on the theory he has finished just behind Celtic Revival on his last two outings, it makes little sense why he would be chalked up almost four times the price of one of the standard bearers in tonight’s contest, and with a decent early break, there appears no obvious reason why he won’t feature prominently throughout.
