I backed THE SCORPION KING at Fontwell last week only for the meeting to be abandoned. He comes here now instead and carries 12 stone but he won going away at that track last month and was notably strong at the finish. The clock backed that up too which is always a good sign. He is 5lb higher but likely has more to come over fences especially if he concentrates a bit better so he looks decent value to follow up. Jack Doyen finally got his head back in front to win at this track last month and with that course form in the book looks the obvious danger despite a 5lb rise. Supasunrise is another one I can see getting competitive.

18:00 Southwell

I know ISLE OF SARK is on a bit of a winless streak and he has finished runner-up on 3 of his last 4 starts but that was another big run at Kempton last time and back at this track off the same mark I think he’ll be winning sooner rather than later. He shaped as though this step back up in trip is just what he needs and he looks the value against Robusto. The latter won 2 of his last 3 for Sir Mark Prescott and could still have more to come now with Eve Johnson Houghton and looks the danger despite another 6lb rise. Cool Party is also respected but he does need to bounce back as was poor at this track on final start.
