RUMOURSAREFLYING (best price 9-2) is still awaiting his first win but on the evidence of his last three starts it surely won’t be too long before a race comes his way, and this contest looks well within his range based on his speed figures and overall profile.

The son of Blue Bresil squandered a winning chance at Southwell two starts ago with a bad mistake at the last and last time out at Fakenham, it was just a simple case of him not having enough speed to cope with the classy ex-Ballydoyle inmate, Bluegrass, around the sharp nature of the track.

Needing a helping hand trip wise, Pam Sly’s individual has now been stepped up a full half a mile to see whether that brings about extra improvement and with the form of his Huntingdon fourth earlier in the season close to be the strongest on offer, everything looks set fair for a positive display.

THE MIDWIFE (best price 6-1) was a shade disappointing at Taunton last time out but it’s probably safer to concentrate on his previous C&D win and in the hope a return to the Lincolnshire venue works the oracle, Grace Harris’ gelding is fancied to bounce back to form with a vengeance.

Still with plenty to do as the field exited the back straight, the six-year-old made steady progress to race on the heels of the main players approaching two out and from that juncture, he stayed on best of all to eventually win with a bit to spare.

Unable to make up a similar amount of ground on gluey ground over three miles at Taunton last time, today’s trip and conditions should hopefully prove more beneficial and all in all, his chance appears watertight.
