Steve Ryder is back with three tips from Thursday's horse racing action.
17:05 Doncaster
KING’S CROWN (best priced at 7/2) was sent off favourite on his stable debut for Michael Dods but looked in need of the run on his reappearance and he is expected to bounce back in this weaker contest. The four-year-old started last season rated 83 for Adrian Nicholls following some good form as a juvenile but had dropped down to a mark of 72 for his reappearance this year.
King’s Crown ran well up to a furlong out shaping like he would improve for that first run for 194 days and he now drops from a 0-75 handicap into a 0-70 handicap for the first time off top weight.
17:15 Lingfield
With Chourmo an early NR in this race, it makes the task a lot easier for SUNSET IN PARIS (best priced at 11/4) who will no doubt appreciate the return to the AW following his run at Brighton last time. The six-year-old won a handicap over this course and distance in December off a mark of 46 by two lengths before winning two classified stakes contests at Lingfield and Wolverhampton in February and March.
Sunset In Paris was only beaten 2 ¼ lengths in a turf handicap at Brighton a fortnight ago off a mark of 51 but he is 0-5 (no placed efforts) on turf and now returns to the AW where he is 3-13 with a further short head 2nd. The handicapper has dropped him 1lb down to a mark of 50 and he looks the one to beat in this weak contest.
20:30 Chelmsford
MAN ON A MISSION (best priced at 6/1) was only beaten 1 ¼ lengths over 5f here on his previous start and looks sure to run well back up in trip to 6f off only a 1lb higher mark. The five-year-old won at Kempton over 6f in February when upped in trip to 6f without headgear off a mark of 58 before hitting the frame over that same course and distance on his next three starts when only beaten 1 ¼ lengths, 2 ¾ lengths and 2 lengths off higher marks than today.
Dropped to 5f last time here, Man On A Mission was slightly hampered before staying on well at the finish and he should relish this step back up in trip to 6f. With a strong pace likely, he is expected to run well once again.
