I’m keen to chance ORDER OF MALTA on his return. This son of Lope De Vega has won fresh before and he ran an eye-catching race at this track last year where he was denied a run at a crucial stage. Things didn’t work out at Bath on final start but the ground turned really testing and I think that can be excused. He is back down to a mile and a half here and has been dropped 2lb since so there is a big chance he returns to form. Brandon Wilkie claims 3lb as well and has been in good form. The danger could be Chillhi who is also coming back down the weights and he was hampered on return at Southwell so could leave that behind back on turf.

The tough and likeable NEY has won 2 of his last 4 starts now and he stayed on strongly to win by a couple of lengths at Catterick last month. He carries a 5lb penalty but if in that sort of form again he should have a great chance to follow up. There isn’t a huge amount of pace on so I think he’ll be ridden handy again and I expect him to be tough to pass in the closing stages. Tarbat Ness was fourth behind the selection last time but back up to 2 miles could be the danger. Michael’s Pledge lacks a run but is still fairly unexposed so he is another one I could see getting competitive.
