GOLDEN MELODY (best price 11-2) is on a bit of a losing run but she is knocking at the door and following another near miss over today’s C&D last time out, Tim Easterby’s mare can finally gain an overdue success.

Arriving on the scene travelling well at the two-furlong market at the Yorkshire venue, the six-year-old soon had company in the shape of Contrast, and although she ended up just getting worried out of the argument close home, there was no question that she shirked the issue.

Taking her recent form figures at the track to 2422 with that effort, the daughter of Belardo once again has her ideal conditions and with her overall profile suggesting she’s more likely to run her race than not, she rates a solid each-way proposition at the morning odds.

SHARINAY (best price 11-2) created a favourable impression when making a successful return to action at Cork last time out and with the distinct prospect of even more to come, Michael Halford & Tracey Collins’ inmate can back up the view that he could be a smart operator in the making.

Gelded since showing promise in a Curragh maiden on his only start as a two-year-old, the son of Harzand was fitted with a hood for his first outing for 197 days and off solid early fractions at the Mallow venue, he settled down into a nice early rhythm on the shoulders of the leaders.

Once out in the clear and asked to go about his work inside the final two furlongs, he took a while to hit top gear, but once he got into his stride, he opened up in impressive fashion to pull readily clear of his main rivals.

Posting a smart time figure compared to the rest of the card, it’s worth noting his final three-furlong split was only bettered by the potentially very useful Birdman and with today’s conditions likely to see him to even better advantage, it would be disappointing if he didn’t go close to capturing his first attempt in this sphere.
