Wootton Bassett colt AL MUDHAFFAR looks promising and he could be set to make it 2 wins from 3 starts here. He caught the eye on debut and then progressed to win readily at Dundalk when last seen. He has been freshened up since ahead of a summer campaign and in first-time cheekpieces now sent handicapping he should prove hard to beat. An opening mark of 80 is no given but he is obviously open to plenty more improvement yet so looks the one to side with. Cleopatra’s Needle is much more exposed but did return with a decent win at Navan earlier this month and wasn’t disgraced in second at Leopardstown so looks the likely threat.

I know this is a low grade so you can’t be too confident about them being consistent but THE CONQUEROR was a good winner at Brighton last time and just 2lb higher here really should be following up. He was keen enough last time too but still came with a strong late burst to get up. If he can settle better in this bigger field with more pace on he should be the one coming home best of all. Iftikhaar went down less than a length at Lingfield last time and will be a danger if building on that back on turf. Curtiz has been out of form the last twice but they can bounce back at this level and with Oisin Murphy booked it wouldn’t surprise me to see him run a good race.
