This looks a competitive 0-70 handicap but a chance is taken at the prices on SOVEREIGN QUEEN (best priced at 12/1). The Kevin Ryan trained three-year-old outran odds of 100/1 to finish 2nd at Leicester on her second career start but failed to beat a rival on her two starts last season.

She ran well to finish 2nd at Newcastle on her reappearance behind So Logical who won at Newmarket on Saturday off a mark of 77.

Sovereign Queen makes her handicap debut off a mark of 65 in this race and she now steps up in trip to a mile for a first time in this race. She is unexposed and looks worth taking a chance on with Tom Eaves on board.

The Tim Easterby trained DANDY FITZ (best priced at 8/1) only beat one rival on his first four career starts but showed much more when 2nd on his reappearance at Nottingham. The three-year-old ran on soft ground on his first four starts but improved for the switch to good ground last time when only beaten two lengths.

That came off a mark of 50 and Dandy Fitz runs here off the same mark but with first time eye shields added. David Allen is once again on board and he should run well with up to four places available.

Improving four-year-olds Vikki Wall and CALAMINT (best priced at 5/1) both won last time but preference goes to the latter who was making her stable debut. The Adrian Murray trained filly had yet to trouble the judge in her previous nine races but defied odds of 33/1 to win by 4 ½ lengths on her first start for 213 days.

Calamint eased clear under David Egan that day and a 12lb rise from the handicapper could be seen as lenient given how dominant the display was. This is still a 47-65 handicap that she contests and she is expected to make it 2/2 for this trainer.
