This race continues to cut up so I make AMANCIO a strong play to follow up that win over a mile here last month. He was starting to look a bit exposed but took a step forward to make all the running and win by a convincing 3 lengths here last time. He clearly enjoyed the switch to aggressive tactics and if he gets dictating again here with the step up in trip likely to suit he should be capable of defying a 5lb rise. 5lb claimer Rose Dawes was seen to good effect last time and maintains the partnership. Rogue Raider showed promise when third on handicap debut and if the first-time cheekpieces help him improve he’ll be the danger.

The most unexposed horse in the field is RUNNING STAR and by some way. This colt by Zoustar placed on all 3 starts as a 3yo and he still has a lot of potential now handicapping on return. I think as long as he doesn’t need the run then he is the most likely winner off this opening mark. Do I Dream won at Ripon and then followed up over C&D last month before finishing third at Beverley last time. She is likeable and off the same mark with Sam Feilden claiming 7lb again should be the danger. I think she’ll probably want the ground softer though so that sways it to the selection. Harswell Duke ties in on that form and is also respected.
