STEP OUT had shown some promise in bumpers prior to running well on his hurdling debut over C&D recently. A half-brother to two capable winners, he has point-to-point experience and dropped down from an Aintree Grade 2 bumper when shaping well over hurdles recently. He is well suited by today's conditions. Point-to-point winner Big Stage also has course form on good ground and while thoroughly consistent, dropping in distance isn't ideal for him. Dual point winner and bumper victor Eco Pete carries a penalty and while he shouldered top weight when running well in a C&D maiden in April, is nonetheless an eight-race maiden over hurdles.

LUCKY STORM is a six-race maiden but contests her first handicap and ran well recently. She is no star but is well suited by this distance on a sound surface, and faces a lesser task rated 102 than when finishing a sound third at Tipperary recently. Hidden Land ran well here over a similar distance recently and is also suited by a sound surface. A dual hurdle winner from 16 runs, she was probably unsuited by testing ground last winter but bounced back to form on good ground recently. Justicialism similarly bounced back to form when also running well here earlier in the month and while that run was over 2m6f, he has winning form at similar distances, albeit in 2022.

THAT'S ABOUT RIGHT is a 10-race maiden but contests a race designed for exposed handicappers, with the top-weight rated only 89. He has run some useful races in defeat, wasn't beaten far at Punchestown in January, and should benefit from a recent reappearance run at Naas. Aliunde was reported by his rider to have burst a blood vessel when last seen at Down Royal in December but the on-course vet couldn't confirm that report, instead stating he had a wound on his right fore limb. He returns from a break reverting to hurdles but ran well in a C&D handicap in April 2023. Paddy Elvis ran well at Down Royal in April but was well held twice since.

A chance is taken that DGALWAYGALLIVANTOR can improve from his recent chase debut and turn Wexford form with Warm In Gorey. He progressed nicely over hurdles, ran well at Gowran in March (from which three subsequent winners emerged), and while well beaten at Wexford, finished reasonably well and should improve from that experience. Warm In Gorey is rated 104 so has obvious claims, but has won just once from 18 career runs. Dual hurdles winner Ceanndana has chase experience and was reported to have struggled on the ground when pulling up at Killarney in October. He returns from a winter break and should run well.

GRAGEEN is a lightly-raced eight-year-old, has been running consistently well this year, and contests a winnable race. A dual point-to-point winner, he raced just once in both 2022 and 2023 but has appeared more regularly this year and a reproduction of his recent runs in useful winners' races would give him every chance. Howya Luveen is herself a dual point winner and while she too is in-form, steps up in grade and might find the selection too strong. Sheephaven Flyer finished third when rated 93 in a course handicap hurdle last May and while generally exposed, the winner of his recent April Dromahane point-to-point was subsequently bumper-placed.

BILLAWAY is 12 years old but might retain enough of his old ability to enhance his two-race unbeaten record at this course, having won last year's renewal. He is closely matched with Vaucelet on past and recent form and being a dour and somewhat enigmatic stayer, this C&D plays ideally to his strengths. Vaucelet is himself a capable hunter but this season's form has been below his best. Shiroccosmagicgem wasn't beaten far in a useful race at Killarney and steps up to this distance for the first time, while Private Ryan steps up from winning the less competitive Bishopscourt Cup at the Punchestown Festival.

BIGCITYLIGHTS represents leading connections and finished fifth in a useful Tattersalls Farm point-to-point when last seen in December. He unseated rider on his November debut but showed nice ability the following month, with each of the horses who defeated him showing up well subsequently, including the winner landing a subsequent bumper. The locally-trained Myleno has progressed with age and won two recent point-to-points. He easily won a winners-of-three point-to-point just six days ago and while making a quick reappearance isn't ideal, is suited by good ground. Chef's Kiss won a coveted four-year-old point-to-point maiden in March, but failed to sell at 28,000 pounds the following month and debuts for new connections in a first-time tongue-tie.
