14:00 Epsom Downs

I will be at Epsom on Friday and I’m looking forward to seeing NEW CHARTER in the flesh for Richard Hannon. This New Bay filly probably went into plenty of Notebooks when a good second on debut at Newmarket. She was beaten 2 and a half lengths but looked to bump into a smart one from the Charlie Appleby yard in the shape of Mountain Breeze. She came a length and a half clear from the third and the field was well strung out in behind. We don’t know the strength of the form yet as only Naina has run since but she finished ninth and she has been beat just half a length so possibly a good sign. I think it’ll work out well and if she improves as expected she should win this. Megalithic also looked promising on debut and is the danger.

15:35 Chepstow

Sir Michael Stoute has his horses in fine fettle right now and he has a good chance of another winner in the shape of JAMES WEBB at Chepstow. This colt by American Pharoah could only finish fifth on debut at Nottingham but that form has been strongly franked since. The winner Theory Of Tides has since made it a perfect 2-2 winning impressively again at Yarmouth and even Mount Atlas who finished down the field in eighth has gone in at Redcar next time out. He looked a bit clueless when asked to get involved and I expect him to know a lot more this time around. Gilded Water was well backed before drifting before the off when third at Windsor last time and will be the danger with the step up in trip here likely to suit.
