That was a career best from EVELYN’S PHOENIX to make a winning handicap debut at Redcar last month and if he improves again as expected up just 3lb then he should have a good chance to follow up. The runner-up Mambha has been beaten since but did run well to finish second so in some ways the form has been boosted. He can improve again stretching out to a mile and looks to have plenty going for him. Persian Phoenix has more experience than most and has been knocking on the door lately so looks the biggest danger. Hello Cotai is another one who could run well.

Blink and you’ll miss this but hopefully it is AMERICAN AFFAIR coming home in front. He has won 2 of his last 3 now and impressed powering home to score at Musselburgh on reappearance. He has been hiked up 10lb as a result but that is deservedly so given his form is progressive. No surprise to see him top the betting and I think he can justify favouritism. Jordan Electrics kept rolling to follow up at Carlisle last month and he has won 4 times at this track so could easily be the danger in his hat-trick bid. Jm Jungle wasn’t disgraced at York only beaten 3 lengths and is another to note.
