The well bred daughter of Kingman finished 2nd by ¾ length on soft ground despite being keen in the early stages and getting bumped at a crucial stage.

Kassaya was beaten by a more experienced rival that day and the form has been boosted by the third Megalithic, a further 1 ¼ lengths behind, who finished a close 2nd in the Woodcote Stakes at Epsom on Friday. This better ground should suit Kassaya and she should get off the mark at the second attempt.

Evelyn’s Phoenix is respected having won on his handicap debut but preference instead goes to TRIBAL CHIEF (best priced at 7/2) who looks sure to relish this step up in trip. The David Menuisier trained three-year-old was sent off big prices for three runs at Kempton over 7f this year where he finished midfield on all of those starts. 

Tribal Chief now returns from a 60 day break having been gelded and makes his handicap debut off an opening mark of 61. This step up in trip to 1m½f should suit based on his running style and he is expected to make a winning handicap/turf debut. 

The James Owen trained MY GIFT TO YOU (best priced at 9/2) has been running consistently well this year and he looks sure to be involved in the finish once again. The six-year-old has form figures of 12122 so far this year as well as a course and distance success here in November by 4 ½ lengths. He has improved from a mark of 86 that day up to a mark of 105 but was only beaten four lengths last time at Cartmel off a 1lb lower mark. 

Lilly Pinchin, who last rode him to victory over this course and distance, is back on board for this race and he should run well once again.
