16:03 Leicester

This looks a competitive 0-85 handicap with Educate particularly respected on his handicap debut in first time cheekpieces. Preference instead though goes to REACHING HIGH (best priced at EVENS) who finished a close 2nd on his handicap debut at Chelmsford a month ago and should be suited by this further step up in trip. The Sir Michael Stoute trained gelding was given an opening mark of 74 having finished midfield in three novice/maiden races but finished 2nd by ¾ length on his handicap debut at Chelmsford despite rearing in the stalls.

Reaching High is extremely well bred being by Sea The Stars out of Ascot Gold Cup winner Estimate so this further step up in trip to 1m4f should suit and he should prove hard to beat off only a 2lb higher mark.

The Ian Williams trained CHARENCEY (best priced at 7/2) won over this course and distance a month ago and he should prove hard to beat off a 5lb higher mark. The lightly raced four-year-old finished 2nd over this course and distance on his handicap debut last season before slightly underperforming on the AW so far this season. As a result he dropped from a mark of 72 down to a mark of 68 before winning by 1 ¾ lengths over this course and distance 24 days ago.

Charencey won comfortably that day under Josephine Gordon who retains the ride and the pair can hopefully make it 2/2 together.

Charencey - 1pt @ 7/2

Damascus Steel has shown improved form in blinkers but is sneaking up the weights so preference goes to LUNAR SHADOW (best priced at 11/2) who ran well to finish 2nd on her reappearance and looks sure to run well off only 1lb higher. The Alan King trained six-year-old has form figures of 23113 at the track including two victories over this distance of 1m4f.

Lunar Shadow finished 2nd by 2 ½ lengths at Southwell in March off a mark of 67 and runs here off 1lb higher having had a 76 day break since. This looks a competitive 0-70 handicap but it would be disappointed if she wasn’t involved in the finish and she should run well back at the track.

Lunar Shadow - 0.5pts e/w @ 11/2
