After a 10/1 winner at Ripon yesterday, Steve Ryder is back with four tips from today's horse racing action.
17:05 Hamilton
Both Lincoln Rockstar and HOT TEAM (best priced at 7/2) carry penalties in this race for successes last week but preference goes to the latter who has previously won at this course. The Patrick Morris trained eight-year-old is a three-time winner over 1m1f at Hamilton in his career off marks of 53, 59 and 50 and was an impressive winner over 1m3f at Carlisle a week ago.
Hot Team won by 8 ½ lengths that day under Rhys Elliott off a mark of 46 and the handicapper has raised him to a mark of 52 for that victory. Due to go down a pound, he instead runs here under a 4lb penalty so he is 3lbs “well in” at the weights and he should prove hard to beat if in the same form.

18:15 Chelmsford
This looks a competitive 0-58 handicap but preference goes to FURTHER MEASURE (best priced at 6/1) who has gone close on his previous three starts at this course and has had his form boosted since. The Mike Murphy & Michael Keady trained seven-year-old finished an unlucky 2nd by a neck on his penultimate start here over 2 miles before finishing a length 2nd a fortnight ago over the same course and distance.
Further Measure was beaten by Wannabe Brave that day who has since followed up at Lingfield to complete a hat-trick and he is now rated 4lbs higher. Further Measure runs here off only 1lb higher and he looks sure to be involved in the finish with this slight drop in trip to suit.
18:45 Chelmsford
The William Haggas trained CLEAR STORM (best priced at 11/4) won on her handicap debut at Nottingham a month ago and should prove hard to beat off only a 3lb higher mark. The daughter of Storm The Stars ran with credit in three maiden/novice races over a mile last season before winning on her reappearance over 1m2f.
Still showing signs of inexperience, Clear Storm stayed on well to win by a head that day under Cieren Fallon and a 3lb rise for beating her elders and pulling three lengths clear of the third seems lenient.
20:45 Chelmsford
Both Never Mind Me and Gultari are respected on their handicap debuts but preference instead goes to SERGEANTS LEGACY (best priced at 11/4) who outran odds of 15/2 to finish a close 2nd on his handicap debut at Kempton. Sent off big prices in his three novice races over 6f, he showed improved form over 7f on his handicap debut and has been gelded since.
The handicapper only raised Sergeants Legacy 1lb for that run and he sets the standard in this race with Joey Haynes once again on board.
