Steve Ryder is back with two tips from Friday's horse racing action.
14:38 Thirsk
The Phil McEntee trained JACQUELINA (best priced at 11/8) runs here 5lbs “well in” under a double penalty and she should prove hard to beat in her bid to complete a five-timer. The five-year-old started her winning sequence at Windsor following a 56 day break after fourteen runs in a row on the AW and she has thrived since.
Jacquelina has followed up that victory with two wins at Brighton before winning easily by 3 ½ lengths at Chepstow a week ago. Running under a double penalty in theory off a mark of 70, she outclasses this Class 6 0-58 handicap from 5lbs “well in” at the weights and it seems significant she also has an entry at Chepstow tomorrow.
16:20 Market Rasen
This looks a weak 0-100 novices’ handicap chase so it looks a good opportunity for ISHOLO DU VIVIEN (best priced at 11/8) to follow up his recent chasing success. The lightly raced Donald McCain trained six-year-old won at Stratford by ten lengths a week ago jumping well from the front under Theo Gillard.
The handicapper has raised Isholo Du Vivien 9lbs for that victory but he instead runs here under a 7lb penalty meaning that he is 2lbs “well in” at the weights. Don Occhetti looks the main danger on his chasing debut in first time cheekpieces but hopefully Isholo Du Vivien can once again make all.
