After catching the eye on debut it was good to see OLD COCK improve and win impressively at Ayr when last seen. He was heavily backed on that occasion and came through strongly to win by over 4 lengths at the line. I expect him to relish the step up to a mile and a quarter now handicapping and I have him as a horse to keep firmly on side. An opening mark of just 77 should prove lenient and I can see him being a warm order come post time. Amancio is exposed in comparison but he is likeable and did win at this track on penultimate start so likely won’t be far away. Devoirs Choice failed to live up to market expectations on handicap debut at Yarmouth but it is still early days and it wouldn’t surprise me to see him emerge as the main danger.
