14:15 Southwell

The Christian Williams trained PRINCE CLENI (best priced at 4/1) won this race last season off a mark of 80 and he runs in it again this season off the same mark. Despite it being his only career victory to date, the gelding was a well supported 11/4 favourite last year when he won by six lengths on good ground.

Prince Cleni disappointed on his next five starts but bounced back to form when 2nd by a neck at Fontwell last month off a mark of 77 and a 3lb rise means he is off the same mark as last year. Jack Tudor, who won on him last year is back on board and he should prove hard to beat in his repeat bid.

Both Little Miss Magic and Ten Commitments are respected on their handicap debuts but a chance is taken on KINGWOOD QUEEN (best priced at 22/1) who has a similar profile. The Ralph Smith trained three-year-old has been sent off at prices of 150/1, 125/1 and 250/1 for her three starts to date over a mile and 7f where she has raced keenly.

Kingwood Queen drops down in trip to 6f on her handicap debut in this race which should suit on running style and a mark of 62 could underestimate her. Daniel Muscutt takes over on board for the first time and she should outrun her odds with up to four places on offer.

This looks a competitive 0-78 handicap but preference goes to XIOMARA (best priced at 5/1) who made an encouraging handicap debut three weeks ago when 2nd at Nottingham. The David Menuisier trained filly had run with credit in three qualifying runs over 7f and a mile before staying on well to finish 2nd by 1 ½ lengths at Nottingham off an opening mark of 75.

Xiomara was still green and inexperienced in the early stages of that contest but ran on well at the finish and is deserving of a 1lb rise. The trainer and jockey Kyle Strydom won last night at Windsor with a similar horse City Of Delight and hopefully Xiomara can do the same.
