This looks a competitive 0-80 handicap but DEVOIRS CHOICE (best priced at 9/2) looks sure to once again be involved in the finish. The Ed Walker trained three-year-old showed promise on his first four starts over a mile but put in a career best performance last time when 2nd at Haydock over 1m2f on his first run since a gelding operation.

That ½ length 2nd has meant that the handicapper has raised Devoirs Choice 3lbs up to a mark of 77 but he instead gets to run here off a mark of 74 once again meaning that he is 3lbs “well in” at the weights. The stiff uphill finish should suit him well and he looks sure to run well with up to four places available.

The Gary & Josh Moore trained MILLER SPIRIT (best priced at 3/1) is an inconsistent performer but he still looks worth off the same mark as his victory a week ago. The four-year-old ran poorly on fast ground at Windsor on his reappearance but won by a length here a week ago under Anna Gibson staying on strongly at the finish in an apprentice handicap over 1m4f.

The handicapper has raised Miller Spirit 3lbs for that victory but he instead runs here off the same mark and should be suited by this step up in trip to 1m6f. The overnight showers are a positive and he should prove hard to beat with Tom Queally taking over on board.

All five runners in this 0-120 novices’ handicap chase have a chance but the most likely winner is LANGLEY HUNDRED (best priced at 9/4) who showed improved form over this course and distance last week on his first run after a wind operation. The Philip Hobbs & Johnson White trained seven-year-old had finished well beaten on his previous three starts before having a wind operation a month ago. He returned from that with a head 2nd over this course and distance behind Easy Bucks with the pair finishing 1 ¼ lengths ahead of the third and a further 12 lengths clear of the fourth.

The handicapper has raised Langley Hundred 3lbs up to a mark of 103 which is still 2lbs below his hurdles mark but he can instead run here once again off a mark of 100 meaning he is 3lbs “well in” at the weights. Off bottom weight he should prove hard to beat under regular rider Michael Nolan.
