This looks a competitive 0-90 handicap but preference goes to MR MONACO (best priced at 7/2) who should appreciate this step up in trip following an encouraging handicap debut last time. The Ralph Beckett trained three-year-old stepped forward from an encouraging debut run over 6f to win at Leicester over 7f on his second career start. Following a 6th placed finish in a valuable sales race at York on his final start last season, connections gelded him and brought him back at Goodwood over  a mile on his handicap debut.

Mr Monaco runs here off only a 1lb higher mark than his ½ length 4th last time where he was staying on well. This step up in trip a furlong will suit and it is a positive that Rossa Ryan, who is 1/1 on the horse, is back on board.

Blenheim Star is respected in her hat-trick bid but LENNON (best priced at 3/1) could prove well handicapped on his handicap debut. The George Boughey trained gelding has finished well beaten in his three starts to date at Salisbury, Wolverhampton and Lingfield but now returns from 178 days off the track on his handicap debut.

The fact that leading owners Simon Munir and Isaac Souede are continuing with a horse rated 58 would give the impression that they expect Lennon to prove much better than his opening mark and you can expect a much better performance in this race.

This looks to be between the three last time out winners Local Bay, Marchetti and ANDROMEDAS KINGDOM (best priced at 7/2) with preference going to the latter who bids to make it a hat-trick of course and distance wins. The Mick Appleby trained mare returned from a 188 day break to win over this course and distance in April off a mark of 50 by 1 ¼ lengths before following up a week later under a 5lb penalty.

Andromedas Kingdom runs here off a mark of 60 which could still underestimate her and connections have booked the talented 5lb claimer Sean D Bowen to negate the rise. Any rain would be a positive for her as her last two victories have come on soft but she is still respected if not.
