16:18 Chepstow

This looks a competitive 0-55 handicap but the presence of top weight BAMA LAMA (best priced at 9/2) pushes five of her rivals out of the handicap. The Rod Millman trained six-year-old has a good record at Chepstow with two wins and four placed efforts with both of those victories coming over this trip of 6f. She finished 3rd on both of her starts in May at Windsor and Bath before winning over this course and distance last time by ¾ length off a mark of 52.

The handicapper has raised Bama Lama 3lbs for that victory which is fair and she looks sure to be involved in the finish with up to five places available.

The Jack Channon trained KALAMA SUNRISE (best priced at 2/1) is the only recent winner in the field and she is only 2lbs higher than her course and distance success last time. The four-year-old ran well on her reappearance at Brighton on good ground before disappointing on heavy ground at Leicester on her next start. Returning to good to firm ground last time, she improved for first time cheekpieces and won by a nose to Dappled Light from 1lb out of the handicap.

The pair pulled 2 ¼ lengths clear of the third so a 2lb rise up to a mark of 48 seems lenient and she should prove hard to beat under similar conditions.

Both High Spirited and Composite could show improvement in first time headgear but preference instead goes to METABOLT (best priced at 5/2) who won this race last year and also won over this course and distance a fortnight ago. The David Loughnane trained five-year-old won his first two starts last season including this race off a mark of 79 before placing twice off marks of 83 and 84.

Metabolt returned this season with a close 4th off a mark of 83 before winning over this course and distance by a head last time off a mark of 82. The handicapper has only raised him 3lbs which is fair and he should prove hard to beat with Rossa Ryan retaining the ride.
