Three of the seven winners of this race came from the Johnston yard and with that in mind, a market watch on the unraced Footstepsinthesand colt, Footwork, may pay dividends. Houndsworth has plenty of stamina in his pedigree and is another newcomer to keep an eye on, but experience can be invaluable and PAP'S TURF is the pick. Fourth at Ayr on his only start despite looking as if he badly needed the education, he may be able to put that to good use here.
Prediction : 1st Paps Turf 2nd Footwork 3rd Houndsworth

Rogue State looks interesting on her first start for Bryan Smart, who has had a couple of recent winners, but 257 days off makes this a big ask and COPPULL HALL LANE is preferred. The selection ran well on debut when second at Redcar and, assuming normal improvement, she could take all the beating. Phoenix Of Dreams also enters the reckoning on form shown thus far.
Prediction : 1st Coppull Hall Lane 2nd Rogue State 3rd Phoenix Of Dreams

All three runnings of this race have gone to horses aged five or six carrying over nine stone and that seems to suggest a bold effort could be on the cards from GIDWA. The selection was a running-on second over shorter last time out and races off just a 1lb higher mark now for Brian Ellison, who trained the winner of this in 2022. Vondelpark won't mind the predicted cut in the ground and could go well in first-time cheekpieces off a sliding mark, while Craig Lidster has his string in form and his Port And Starburd could also have a say.
Prediction : 1st Gidwa 2nd Vondelpark 3rd Port And Starburd

RUNNING STAR returned with a solid enough display when third on his handicap/seasonal debut at Pontefract after some promising efforts in novice company last year. The four-year-old was gelded following that outing and the addition of first-time cheekpieces, along with that run under his belt, may well be enough to see him get off the mark. Summit went up 4lb for her Redcar success last time and commands respect along with Puella Law, who shed the maiden tag here last month, and Distinction.
Prediction : 1st Running Star 2nd Summit 3rd Puella Law

MAKALU won on his return to turf at Ripon last month before going back to that same venue and receiving very little luck in running when hampered on a couple of occasions earlier this month. The most significant interference occurred when making his challenge and the five-year-old is worth another chance. Little Ted finished ahead of the selection last time when also not getting the rub of the green and he is entitled to be in the mix, while Star Of St James and Whatwouldyouknow appeal most of the remainder.
Prediction : 1st Makalu 2nd Little Ted 3rd Star Of St James

CARAMAY stepped forward from last season when gaining her first career success at Windsor and a 3lb rise may not be enough to stop the daughter of Lethal Force from backing that performance up. Wheres The Crumpet was in decent form on the all-weather earlier this year and isn't discounted back on turf, while others for the shortlist include Freddy Robinson and Rita Rana.
Prediction : 1st Caramay 2nd Wheres The Crumpet 3rd Freddy Robinson
