17:25 Ayr

GYTO Notebook Double for Saturday 22nd June

Ayr 5.25 Mereside Madness (7/4)

The switch to handicaps has seen MERESIDE MADNESS improve and he capped off last season with back to back wins at Newcastle. He is 6lb higher here back on turf but may well be up to landing the hat-trick. This isn’t the strongest of contests so I think it is a good opportunity to extend the winning sequence.

Moon Man is yet to taste success but he is getting closer having gone down just a neck at Leicester last time and could be the danger. Of the rest Eminent Jewel opened her account at Wetherby but up 4lb in a better race she’ll need to improve again.

17:40 Royal Ascot

Royal Ascot 5.40 Hand Of God (3/1)

I was at Sandown to see HAND OF GOD win and while he was strongly pressed in the closing stages I never felt like he was going to be headed and he kept pulling out more.

I would mark that up somewhat and I expect him to come on plenty so a mere 3lb rise shouldn’t be enough to stop him following up. I think he’ll improve again for the step up to a mile and a quarter here and he has plenty going for him. He has a good draw and should get a good target to run down so with Buick booked he is the one to be on.

Portsmouth was well backed again at Epsom but could only finish second but I still think he has more to come and he might be the danger. Approval impressed at Windsor and is another one who enters calculations.

17:30 Redcar

Value Tip for Saturday 22nd June

Redcar 5.30 Sam Sarphati (7/2)

I think this is very much the case of there being value in the favourite and I fully expect SAM SARPHATI to follow up. He improved to win well at Pontefract and up just 3lb with a 3lb claimer booked this son of New Approach should be hard to beat.

He only prevailed by half a length last time but had quite a bit of ground to make up and did it well. The drop back in trip is no issue and he should come out on top.

Red Force One is plenty exposed but cashed in off a reduced mark to win at Musselburgh and has won over C&D in the past so might be the one to give him most to think about. Carlton is still just a 4yo and wasn’t beaten far at Ayr last time so is another one in with a squeak.
