16:22 Newbury

This looks a competitive 0-70 handicap with both Golden Phase and Laser Focus arriving in good form but preference instead goes to HOT TEAM (best priced at 4/1) who was an impressive winner at Hamilton on Wednesday. The Patrick Morris trained eight-year-old was an impressive 8 ½ length winner at Carlisle in May before finishing 3rd under a 4lb penalty on his next start.

Hot Team stretched clear in impressive style last time at Hamilton off a mark of 52 and the handicapper has raised him 6lbs for that success. Instead, he runs here off under a 4lb penalty so he is 2lbs “well in” at the weights and should prove hard to beat under regular rider Rhys Elliott.

This looks to be between handicap debutants Eben Zaabeel and MARHABA MILLION (best priced at 4/1) with preference going to the latter who is fitted with a first-time visor. The Owen Burrows trained colt had three quick qualifying runs between April and May in maiden company where he ran with credit chasing home the ill-fated Hidden Law when 3rd over 1m3f here.

The handicapper has given Marhaba Million an opening mark of 81 which could prove lenient and based on his slightly wayward finish at Salisbury last time, the first time headgear should make the job of William Buick, who is on board for the first time, a lot easier.

19:30 Brighton

All five runners have a chance in this 0-55 handicap but it looks a good opportunity for the consistent KONDRATIEV WAVE (best priced at 9/4) to win for a fifth time in his career. The Tony Caroll trained seven-year-old has been running consistently well since returning from a break with form figures of 122 in classified events. He won by a nose at Brighton over 7f earlier this month under Jack Doughty before finishing runner-up over a mile here and at Leicester over 7f.

Jack Doughty, who is great value for his 5lb claim, gets back on board Kondratiev Wave in this race and he looks sure to be involved in the finish off a mark of 52.
