17:30 Beverley

GYTO Notebook Double for Friday 5th July

Beverley 5.30 Perfect Part (5/2)

Despite being sent off 125/1 PERFECT PART certainly knew her job flying home to win with a bit in hand on debut. The horse sent off favourite Maw Lam was slowly away and did have a few things go wrong but it was hard not to be impressed with how Brian Ellison’s debutant got up.

The latter acquitted herself well in the Queen Mary at Royal Ascot since finishing third beaten just 2 lengths so the form has been franked too. She can improve again and looks well placed to make it a perfect 2-2.

Bacor improved to open her account at Ripon last month and she was nicely on top at the line so if improving again could emerge as the danger. Bated Breath filly Raison D’etre showed clear promise on debut to finish third at York and with improvement to come could run well too so is another one to note.

18:43 Haydock

Haydock 6.43 Spartan Warrior (5/2)

I have been with SPARTAN WARRIOR the last twice and I’m not about to abandon him now. He impressed winning readily at Beverley on penultimate start and then improved again to beat a subsequent winner in Miss Gitana at the same venue last time.

He is only 3lb higher and with more to come especially over this trip I think he’ll have a great chance of completing the hat-trick. There is a lot of pace on and I think he’ll just track it through before hopefully being produced in time.

Panthera has showed plenty of promise in three starts to date and if improving again now handicapping does look the obvious threat. Aulis has been knocking on the door and that was a good second at Newbury last time so with more to come is another one who must enter calculations.

16:25 Doncaster

Value Tip for Friday 5th July

Doncaster 4.25 Angle Land (5/1)

It was good to see ANGLE LAND back in the winners enclosure at Yarmouth last month. She had been hinting her turn was near again for a while and I think that’s why the handicapper kept leaving her off the same mark.

She did finally deliver and if things pan out favourably again it really wouldn’t be a surprise to see her follow up. She won off a mark of 80 last year so despite shouldering a penalty should have scope off this mark. She went forward and dictated last time and hopefully similar tactics will be deployed here.

Miss Attitude did impress winning at Haydock last time and that form is pretty solid so she does look the danger but from a price perspective the selection does seem better value. Angel Shared is on a four-timer but a further 6lb rise certainly applies more pressure so she’ll need a career best again to come out on top.
