Steve Ryder has three tips for Sunday’s horse racing.
14:30 Ayr
This looks a competitive 0-70 amateur jockeys’ handicap but preference goes to POP STAR (best priced at 3/1) who won over 6f here last time.
The Alice Haynes trained four-year-old won by a head that day despite racing keenly in the early stages and this drop to 5f should make the job of Becky Smith easier in the early stages.
Pop Star joined Alice Haynes from Aidan O’Brien rated 82 so he remains well handicapped off a mark of 71 (up 2lbs for his latest success) and he should hold strong claims of following up in this race.
Advised Bet: Pop Star 3/1 (1pt)

The lightly raced Own Accord looks progressive and could prove still ahead of her mark but she could struggle to give weight to POL ROGER (best priced at 4/1) who boasts an impressive course and distance record.
The Michael Dods trained four-year-old has won both of his starts over this course and distance this season off marks of 66 and 70 and was only beaten two lengths when 2nd at York off a mark of 74 last time.
The handicapper has raised Pol Roger 4lbs up to a mark of 78 which will make things more difficult but he had previously finished 2nd on his handicap debut off a mark of 86 so he could still prove well handicapped.

BRAES OF DOUNE (best priced at 15/8) looks a worthy favourite for this 0-55 handicap given his recent form and he should hold strong claims of winning this for a second year in a row.
The Jim Goldie trained six-year-old won this off a mark of 46 last season by a head before finishing 2nd by less than a length on his previous two starts when beaten less than a length off marks of 50 and 51.
This step back up in trip to 1m2f will suit Braes Of Doune who was staying on strongly over a mile last time under a 3lb claimer and he should now prove hard to beat off the same mark with Paul Mulrennan back on board.
