After 7/2 and 3/1 winners yesterday, Steve Ryder is back with three tips from Friday's horse racing action.
15:00 Newmarket
This looks a competitive handicap but preference goes to BAGUE D’OR (best priced at 6/1) who boasts an unbeaten record at this track. The six-year-old has a lightly raced profile since joining James Ferguson but that includes a reappearance win on the Rowley Mile course over this trip of 1m6f by 1 ¾ lengths off a mark of 91.
Bague D’Or has won both of his starts on the July course in his career and also ran Trawlerman to a length when 2nd at Goodwood over this trip on his final start for Chris Wall. He found the drop to 1m4f against him at Royal Ascot and back over his preferred trip of 1m6f at this track he looks sure to run well with up to five places available.
15:50 York
Glistening Nights is respected in his hat-trick bid but this represents a step up in class and preference instead goes to SOLOMON (best priced at 4/1) on his handicap debut. The William Haggas trained three-year-old has run well on all three of his career starts and he looks as if he should be suited by this step up in trip to 1m2½f on his handicap debut.
Solomon finished 2nd by a short head on his debut over 7f at Southwell before winning comfortably over a mile at the same venue at short odds on his next start. He finished 3rd behind Notable Speech at Kempton in a conditions race at Kempton prior to that rival winning the 2000 Guineas and he should prove hard to beat off an opening mark of 86.
19:35 Chepstow
The Stan Moore trained FACT OR FABLE (best priced at 16/1) was a three-time course and distance winner last season and he should run well having finished runner-up on his previous two starts. The seven-year-old won here last season off marks of 49, 51 and 54 so he should remain competitive off a mark of 51 in this race.
Fact Or Fable comes into the race having finished 2nd by less than a length on his previous two starts off a mark of 50 and this return to Chepstow should suit
