15:28 Ayr
GYTO Notebook Double for Monday 15th July
I’m hoping the winning run continues for ALFA KELLENIC at Ayr on Monday. This Havana Grey filly is 2-2 in handicaps this season having won in good style at Thirsk on return before following up impressively at York last month. A 9lb rise certainly demands more from her but she is still unexposed and could easily still be ahead of the handicapper. She was well backed last time and hit the front with a furlong still to run. With a stronger pace on here she could have an even better finishing kick.
Batal Zabeel has won 2 of his last 4 and was back in the winners enclosure at Ripon last month. A further 3lb rise applies more pressure and this faster surface also asks a different question. Mythical Phoenix has been knocking on the door and is another to note.
20:20 Windsor
Windsor 8.20 God Of Fire (9/4)
The hat-trick seeking GOD OF FIRE looks hard to oppose here. He made a bright start for this yard finishing a good second at Salisbury and then took his form up a notch to beat Giselles Defence at Beverley. That horse was back in the winners enclosure at Newbury next time out so that form has been strongly franked. He then won again last week travelling notably well throughout and is clearly at the top of his game right now. Buick is booked and he looks the one to beat once more.
Expert Witness had finished runner-up on her first 3 starts before improving to beat the selection at Salisbury. She had fitness on side that day though and has gone up 5lb so I think the selection can turn the tables now. Fast Steps prevailed at Newbury last time but has never backed up a win in the past so a bit to prove.
17:40 Wolverhampton
Value Tip for Monday 15th July
Wolverhampton 5.40 Heart Of The City (3/1)
That was a big run from HEART OF THE CITY on debut at Newmarket. This Night Of Thunder filly was beaten less than a length at the line and the front pair came some 6 and a half lengths clear from the third. Only one horse has run out the race since so hard to get a handle on the form but it looked a promising effort. She should know a lot more this time around and I think it represents a decent opportunity for her to get off the mark.
Dubai Treasure ran a big race on debut to finish second to Sacred Angel and that is very good form but she was turned over at Yarmouth next time and hasn’t been seen since. She lacks a run and might get overbet here which is why I think the selection is good value. Santa Croce was denied just a short head at Yarmouth and is another one to note with more to come.
