GYTO Notebook Double for Saturday 20th July

Haydock 6.55 Persian Blue (9/4)

The likeable PERSIAN BLUE went into my Notebook after finishing a good second at Windsor. That form has since been well advertised with the fourth Cloud King winning a competitive handicap at this track next time out. The selection then won in good style at Beverley coming through strongly to win by a couple of lengths at the line. She is up 7lb but her form stacks up and I think she has been well placed here and can follow up. There is tons of pace on and that should help her settle early which I think is the key to getting her to finish.

Balmoral Lady hasn’t done much wrong so far finishing runner-up on al 3 starts. She can do better and might emerge as the danger. Pendlebury Lane is unexposed and is another one who could get competitive but might be one for further down the line.

20:15 Doncaster

Doncaster 8.15 Ehtiram (9/4)

I can see this race working out well in time as there are potentially some nice types in here but even so it looks a good opportunity for Ribchester filly EHTIRAM to follow up. She improved for the step up to a mile and a quarter to win at Chelmsford last month and up in trip again on handicap debut I think she is one to keep firmly on side. She hit the line hard last time and stayed on strongly so a mile and a half should prove ideal. Owen Burrows is in great form with a 25% strike rate in the past fortnight and I think this filly will prove a cut above.

Nathaniel filly Pique’ beat College Choir at Leicester which I think is decent form and then was only denied a neck by another improver in Divine Presence at Wolverhampton so looks the danger on that. She has more to come and could be one to keep an eye on going forward.

15:40 Curragh

Value Tip for Saturday 20th July

Curragh 3.40 Port Fairy (5/1)

Ryan Moore is on Content so by default she is probably going to go off favourite for this. I do feel PORT FAIRY is value against though. She is a stablemate to the selection and has looked really promising herself. She made a winning reappearance at Dundalk before bumping into another nice filly in Forest Fairy in the Cheshire Oaks. She was back to winning ways winning the Ribblesdale at Royal Ascot last month looking well suited by this trip. She is unexposed after just 4 starts and should have a lot more to come especially over this trip. If she is within striking distance in the closing stages I think she’ll run them down.

Aidan O’Brien could easily have a 1-2 but Lope De Lilas is also feared for Willie Mullins. She has been snapped up by Wathnan Racing after winning impressively at Leopardstown when last seen and has likely been put away for this so could run a big race. Lava Stream ties in with the selection on that Ribblesdale form so is another one who must enters calculations.
