The Ben Case trained eight-year-old was previously rated as high as 111 in the past and was rated 108 when finishing 2nd over this course and distance in 2022. She struggled last season but as a result had dropped down to a career low mark of 94 when showing a good attitude to win by a neck over this course and distance last time. 

The pair pulled six lengths clear of the third that day so a 4lb rise from the handicapper is fair and I expect Belles Benefit to follow up that victory in this race.

With Lipa K an early NR in this novices’ limited handicap chase, a chance is taken that FORCING BULL (best priced at 3/1) can repeat his recent success on chasing debut. The Donald McCain trained seven-year-old won two novice hurdles last year before losing his way in better races including a Grade 2 novice hurdle at Haydock. 

Forcing Bull always looked in control at Uttoxeter on his chasing debut despite the presence of an odds on favourite who had won on his chasing debut a month earlier. He stretched clear by nine lengths that day and a 4lb rise from the handicapper could underestimate him. This small field should once again suit him and he looks the most likely winner despite the market currently favouring Caraci Castle. 

16:15 Ayr

This looks a competitive 0-65 handicap but preference goes to ETERNAL SUNSHINE (best priced at 10/3) who boasts a recent course and distance success. The Jim Goldie trained four-year-old is a lightly raced sprinter who is unbeaten over this trip of 6f. She got off the mark at Thirsk by ½ length off a mark of 50 before following up over this course and distance on her next start by 1 ¾ lengths off a mark of 52. 

The handicapper has raised Eternal Sunshine 6lbs for that victory which seems fair and she can hopefully score a quick-fire hat-trick under Paul Mulrennan.
