WHISPERING ROYAL might have finished closer to the eventual winner but for being squeezed out in the closing stages when finishing third over C&D. Off an unchanged mark and with cheekpieces applied, he can go two places better. Clan Chieftain doubtless has the ability to play a hand in a race of this nature and he is respected from an attractive mark. Mr Freedom ran out a game winner at Goodwood on his most recent start on the level and must be of interest off 3lb higher.

Although LONE PIPER repeatedly flashed his tail when finishing second at Yarmouth most recently, he still ran on strongly and created a favourable enough impression to suggest he could be tough to beat here. Due To Henry was a close-up fourth in that race and, under a 6lb penalty for his subsequent Windsor success, might struggle to reverse the form. Similar comments apply to the fifth home Galactic Charm, although he could get closer to the selection if the first-time visor draws improvement.
