Having won three of his four starts this year, TOWNHILL showed enough pace when scoring over further at Newton Abbot last time to suggest that he can handle the drop in trip on this occasion. A 4lb rise for that success could prove to be lenient and the six-year-old is preferred to Dr Seb, who makes his handicap debut after scoring comfortably over C&D last month in novice company. The hat-trick-seeking Hillsin is another to note, as well as Kazontherazz and Kitesurfer.

Earth Cry has done nothing but improve since he was fitted with a tongue-tie, but he's been raised a further 6lb for winning at Perth and faces a tougher task up against the likes of HARDY BOY. Ben Pauling's grey returned to the smaller obstacles with a fine second in a higher grade at Worcester and looks capable of going one better at this level. Liverpool Knight finished fourth behind the selection at Worcester and can figure again with a conditional taking 5lb off his back, while Police Academy and Hiconic could both go well.

Last year's winner Ambassador won again here in May and can make his presence felt only 3lb higher than his latest success. LASER FOCUS has yet to win over hurdles, but has shown improved form on the Flat since joining James Owen's yard. Potentially well treated back in this code, he can finally open his account over timber. Phoenix Aquilus also reverts to hurdling with a shout, while Lucky Lover Boy scored in June only to disappoint at Worcester last time.

BACK IN THE BAY made a bold bid when fourth at Worcester on her debut under Rules. She lost a couple of places in the closing stages that day, but will know more now and David Pipe's mare has a slight fitness advantage over Mighty Fleur. The latter finished a promising runner-up here back in April and can get involved, while the Irish challenger Cabra Lady is also worth a second glance. Pure Seduction has placed form between the flags and is another to note.

LIPA K came to grief when holding every chance over hurdles at Southwell in June but the six-year-old, who has an unblemished chasing record, can defy an 11lb higher mark back in this sphere. Lermoos Legend continues to knock on the door and he is unlikely to be far away, while Give Me A Moment appeals most of the remainder.

CHEMICAL WARFARE has found his stride since being upped to 2m4f over fences, winning at Market Rasen and Worcester recently. He goes into unknown territory now sent past 3m, but pedigree suggests it will be no problem and he is taken to complete the hat-trick. Doctor Foley was a well-beaten second at Newton Abbot last time when attempting to follow up on his earlier Fontwell success but he remains of interest. Meechlands Magic is another to consider.
