A two-mile plus stamina test won by RED FORCE ONE in 2022 when Philip Kirby's then seven-year-old won by half a length off a handicap mark of 70. He is back this year at the age of nine having won his last three starts in lesser grades, and gets in here off bottom weight and a mark of 61. He can go close once more, though recent C&D second Valley Of Flowers and Chester third Gifted Angel will let him know he has been in a race.

Impartiality, Barry's Boy and Master Of Zest are all potential improvers, while chief among the debutants could be Seed Investor and Far Ahead, who appeal on pedigree and certainly warrant betting checks. However, PRAETORIAN is hard to ignore given his proximity to subsequent July Stakes runner-up Billboard Star at Newmarket last month. Another step forward from the Archie Watson-trained colt could well suffice here.

RAYAT looked a sprint handicapper to keep firmly on the right side of when scoring comfortably over 6f at Nottingham earlier this month on his first try over the trip, and the suspicion is that a 7lb rise may not be enough to anchor him here. Iris Dancer showed a likeable attitude when winning gamely at Carlisle latest and, upped 2lb, she should be thereabouts when it matters once more. Minnesota Lad took advantage of a sliding mark to score narrowly at Doncaster last month and he is entitled to consideration.

Ejaabiyah commands the utmost respect on the back of her Salisbury romp last month, but this doesn't look to be the penalty kick that her forecast prohibitive odds suggest, and the value may lie elsewhere, namely with BOLSENA. Kevin Ryan's charge was denied in the shadows of the post after looking the likely winner for a long way when finishing runner-up over 1m2f at Goodwood on her penultimate start. That form has a strong look to it and, with her recent Sandown blow out appearing to be too bad to be true, she gets the vote to bounce back in style here. Where I Wanna Be and Ten Dimes are also considered.

The Coffee Pod has won twice here but he has not been as successful on the faster ground predicted, and it may be worth looking elsewhere for the winner. MERRIMACK is after his hat-trick after wins at Brighton and Yarmouth in lesser company but is worth a try at this level carrying a 6lb penalty. He can go well for a stable in good heart, leaving Scoops Ahoy and Lettuce Leaf as others capable of being in the mix.
