The Mee family colours always need to be respected at the Galway festival and I am hoping they can get off the mark in the second race this year with MALBAY MADNESS (best priced at 10/3). The Emmet Mullins trained four-year-old ran twice at the festival last year with a short head 2nd and a one length victory on the flat off a rating of 78.

Malbay Madness has had three qualifying runs over hurdles this season where he has run with credit including when 3rd behind Feud who could boost the form in the opener. The handicapper has given him an opening mark of 108 so he should prove well handicapped in this code and is expected to reward favourite backers.

The William Haggas trained ELMONJED (best priced at 11/10) won his two starts as a juvenile last season before finishing 6th at York over 7f on his reappearance. He put in a career best performance when 3rd at York back down in trip to 6f off a mark of 89 in a Class 2 0-105 handicap last time and the handicapper has left him unchanged on that mark.

Elmonjed now drops in grade to a Class 3 0-90 handicap and he should prove hard to beat back on fast ground with recent course and distance winner Amazonian Dream looking the biggest danger.

TEED UP (best priced at 5/1) has a fantastic record at the Galway Festival and hopefully he can repeat his victory in this race from last year. The Emmet Mullins trained seven-year-old has form figures of 21121121 at the track and has had a couple of runs on the flat over shorter to put him spot on for this contest.

A rating of 95 this year from Stall 12 will make things more difficult for Teed Up but he will have no doubt been primed for this meeting and he is expected to be involved in the finish with up to six places available.
