GYTO Notebook Double for Thursday 1st August
Goodwood 3.35 Opera Singer (2/1)
The step up to a mile and a quarter should be ideal for OPERA SINGER and I’m confident she can get back to winning ways here. Aidan O’Brien has always held this filly in high regard and she has been highly tried twice so far this season.
She reappeared finishing an excellent third to Fallen Angel in the Irish Guineas and then went down just a length to Porta Fortuna in the Coronation at Royal Ascot which is form that has been franked since. She will strip fitter again and with this trip sure to suit there is plenty to like.
Emily Upjohn is obviously a high-class mare and she bounced back from an awful run at Epsom to chase home Bluestocking at the Curragh. If she comes forward again she’ll be the obvious danger. Sparkling Plenty has won her last two but will need more again to get involved in this.

16:55 Thursday
Nottingham 4.55 Pfingstberg (5/2)
The way PFINGSTBERG won at Lingfield last month was promising and then I thought he looked a bit unlucky to be nailed at Newmarket. The drop back in trip went against him at Wolverhampton last time but he still wasn’t disgraced in third.
I still think he is well handicapped off a mark of 57 and with the step back up to 2 miles sure to suit he is one to keep on side albeit at this lowly level. There isn’t a huge amount of pace on so he could go forward and dictate which would be another plus.
Wannabeawallaby has been knocking on the door and his form is stacking up but he is yet to win a race and that is a bit concerning as he has had a few chances now. Kissininthebackrow won by a short head at Ffos Las but will need more to follow up against these.
