UK Horse Racing Tips: Galway

PINK IN THE PARK may be able to make a winning start over fences. The Walk In The Park mare was placed in Grade 3 company over timber last season on ground which was probably softer than ideal. She should appreciate this nicer going and the mares allowance is a plus. Jack Kennedy sides with Stuzzikini from the Gordon Elliott pair. He has been runner-up twice over fences from three starts and sets the standard with his official mark of 123. What Path, a former stablemate of the selection, is an interesting raider for Sophie Leech. The Coastal Path gelding won his bumper here a couple of years ago and is entitled to improve from his chase debut at Limerick.

It's interesting that Paul Townend sides with SAYLAVEE, who didn't appear to give her true showing in Punchestown last time. The Shantou mare never looked comfortable that day when jumping to her left and making a few mistakes. She had been good on her chase debut at Killarney previously and getting a nice chunk of weight from the geldings she may be able to bounce back. Stablemate Horantzau D'airy has won two from three over fences and ran well over two miles at Roscommon last time when chasing home Je T'ai Porte. Ashdale Bob is a classy sort who won well at Kilbeggan last time, but this may be a sharp enough test for the nine-year-old.

The draw hasn't been kind to NO MORE PORTER but he may be able to overcame that. The Elzaam gelding ran a cracker here last year when going down by a neck in the BMW Mile and was well fancied for that event on Tuesday but didn't make the cut. He was a touch unlucky when second in a valuable contest at the Curragh on Derby Day and looks primed for a big show here. Giuseppe Cassioli comes here in fine form and was value for a bit more than his winning margin at Leopardstown last time. He could go well despite an 8lb rise. Facethepuckout was expected to improve from his run at Naas and is another to consider.

ONE LOOK was a touch disappointing when last seen at Leopardstown in May but can get her campaign back on track now. The Gleneagles filly looked a star in the making when pulverising the field in the Goffs Million on her debut last September. She was workmanlike when scoring in very testing conditions on her return at Cork and was perhaps a bit free when beating only one home in Group 3 company at Leopardstown subsequently. She has had a nice break since and is likely to bounce back. Flight Of Fancy ran well when stepping into Listed company at Killarney last time and looks an obvious danger. Curvature won at this level last season but needs to improve on her comeback effort at Leopardstown.

The Willie Mullins-trained NINTH TITAN can follow up his recent bloodless victory at Tramore. While the bare form of that maiden hurdle doesn't look anything special, the champion trainer has traditionally run some of his nicer horses at the County Waterford track. A four-time winner on the Flat in his native France, the horse had his excuses when a beaten favourite at this meeting last year. A dual point-to-point winner for previous connections, Born Braver has won his last two starts for trainer Gavin Cromwell. A proven stayer, the son of Court Cave should relish the Galway hill. Listowel winner Heroes Rise is a lightly-raced four-year-old who should be open to more improvement than most of his rivals.

The Henry De Bromhead-trained GORGEOUS TOM looks nicely treated on his first venture into handicap company. A six-year-old son of Champs Elysees, the gelding acquitted himself quite well in some decent maidens over the winter, before opening his account at Naas in April. He subsequently produced what was arguably a career best when beating a solid yardstick at the Punchestown festival on his latest start. Daddy Long Legs disappointed at Tipperary recently but that run was too bad to be true. Better judged on his previous easy win at Punchestown, jockey bookings suggest he is the Mullins number one hope. Petrol Head cannot be discounted given his recent winning form, although the eight-year-old may need to improve again in this competitive event.

Monday evening's runaway handicap hurdle winner SON OF HYPNOS holds strong claims reverting to the level. A former course and distance winner, the Kevin Smith-trained seven-year-old couldn't be in better form at present, as evidenced by his rout on day one of the festival. Recent Killarney winner Best Law has been raised 9lb subsequently but the form of that race has been advertised by the runner-up since. It would be no surprise to see further progression from the son of Aclaim, while others to note include Question Of Class and Vidisha.

The eye is immediately drawn to the impeccably bred VICAR STREET. By Galileo out of a three-time Grade 1 winning mare in Vroum Vroum Mag, the five-year-old certainly has the pedigree to be a champion. Trainer Willie Mullins ran a subsequent top flight winner in Mystical Power at this meeting for the same owner last year, so making his debut at this point of the season is no cause for concern. Recent impressive Borris House point-to-point winner Sporting Glance has to be of interest on his racecourse/stable debut for Cian Collins. The son of Coastal Path was sent off odds-on on that occasion so has always clearly been held in some regard. Gordon Elliott's newcomer Boston Rajj is also worthy of consideration under Harry Swan.
