The focus for my Stat Bet this afternoon is a horse’s first time in a handicap. George Scott has a terrific record with horses stepping into handicap company. In the last year alone he has had 19 runners which has returned five winners and 11 placed efforts.
I thought MISSION COMMAND was worth a play in the nursery at Glorious Goodwood today. This 2yo has improved with every run and impressed seeing off some decent horses at Ripon last month.
The fifth Tees Aggregates has won impressively since so the form has already been franked too. An opening mark of 83 could prove workable and at 15/2 he is a good each way bet.
George Scott has had a 58% place strike rate with his handicap debutants and this horse is 11/8 to hit the frame (4 places) which is another way I have played this as well.
