17:23 Kempton

The eye is drawn to EIGHTEENCARATGOLD at Kempton on Wednesday. This flashy chestnut colt is improving with experience and ran a nice race finishing fifth at Bath last month. He was doing all his best work late in the day suggesting this trip will be ideal and the form already has substance as Power Of Twins who finished sixth has run twice finishing runner-up on both occasions. Even the eighth Clover Time has gone close beaten just half a length at Thirsk and looks quite a nice horse (also runs again tomorrow and I will be backing).

When you couple that with the fact his trainer Eve Johnson Houghton is having a good year with handicap debutants then he makes even more appeal. The really eye-catching stat is that she has a 25% place strike rate with them so the 11/10 to hit the frame looks a great play. I can see him winning though and don’t be surprised if the 4/1 comes under pressure.
