18:50 Haydock

GYTO Notebook Double for Friday 9th August

Haydock 6.50 Sante Croce (2/1)

Given the form Sir Mark Prescott is in right now I’m willing to chance SANTE CROCE on handicap debut. She has shown a fair bit already going down just a short head on reappearance at Yarmouth and then finished a creditable third at Wolverhampton last month. An opening mark of just 74 should be lenient and I expect her to be suited by the drop back to 6f as well. This looks a winnable opportunity and she could take a bit of beating.

Vicario has finished runner-up on 4 of her last 5 starts and while she ran well over 7f here when last seen she might need more again to get off the mark. Rosa Applause could be a greater threat as she is better than she managed to show at Windsor last time.

19:45 Newmarket

Newmarket 7.45 Tronido (5/2)

I’m keen to stick with the hat-trick seeking TRONIDO at Newmarket on Friday night. She relished the step back up in trip to spring a 40/1 surprise at Lingfield on penultimate start and then followed up despite a 9lb rise at Kempton. She is 7lb higher again but may well remain ahead of the handicapper and this looks another decent opportunity. With only 6 rivals to beat I expect them to be aggressive on her again and hopefully she can make all once more.

Jazzy Angel has won 2 of her last 3 and despite the layoff could be the danger given she was on an upward curve when last seen. Tayala has caught the eye a few times in defeat and is another one that could easily get competitive in this.
