This looks to be between the raiders Al Riffa and KING OF CONQUEST (best priced at 5/2) with preference going to the latter over this distance. Al Riffa is rated 1lb superior to King Of Conquest but has never raced over this trip of 1m4f in his career and has also not won since September 2022.

King Of Conquest on the other hand has won his previous two starts over this trip as well as finishing only a nose behind Middle Earth in a Group 3 at Newbury in May. 

Charlie Appleby won this race two years ago with Rebel’s Romance and King Of Conquest is expected to win this and complete a hat-trick of recent wins

Charyn is respected following his victory at Royal Ascot but QUDWAAH (best priced at 5/1) deserves to take his chance in this Group 1. The Simon & Ed Crisford trained four-year-old is unbeaten in his four career starts including when beating Docklands and Maljoom over the straight mile at Ascot in May with both chasing home Charyn in the Queen Anne Stakes on their next start. 

Connections of Quddwah resisted the temptation of running at Royal Ascot and instead stepped him up in grade to win the Group 2 Summer Mile Stakes at Ascot where he was value for a lot more than the winning margin of ½ length suggests. Callum Shepherd retains the ride and he should hold strong claims of emulating his sire Kingman who won this race in 2014. 

St Pancreas won on his stable debut for Martyn Meade but is up 4lbs for that success and a chance is taken on COOL LEGEND (best priced at 2/1) who is fitted with first time cheekpieces. The William Haggas trained three-year-old has only been beaten ¾ length and 1 ¼ lengths on his previous two starts off this mark of 80 where his attitude in a finish could be questioned. 

At Goodwood on his penultimate start, Cool Legend wandered under pressure late on before not getting the clearest of runs last time at Newbury. Off the same mark but with first time cheekpieces to help, he should prove hard to beat off this same mark.
