GYTO Notebook Double for Wednesday 14th August

Beverley 3.15 King Sharja (7/4)

It was good to see KING SHARJA finally get his head in front over C&D last month. He came with a strong late run to peg back Twilight Jazz and the front pair were a length and a half clear from the third with the field well strung out in behind. He has only gone up 3lb and if in the same form he looks to have found another good opportunity to follow up and I expect him to justify favouritism.

Alice’s Impact has also been in good form winning albeit narrowly over C&D and then finishing a creditable second at Carlisle. If in that form again should be the danger. Rum Runner is also in with a squeak so don’t rule him out completely either.

Ffos Las 5.30 Toy Soldier (7/4)

I was with TOY SOLDIER at Musselburgh last time and he impressed justifying strong support to win by 2 and a half lengths at the line. He was strong through the line which is always an encouraging sign and with further improvement to come I think he can follow up. He has only had a handful of starts so is still unexposed and in comparison to this field has experience to draw upon which is always a plus.

Imperial Trooper shaped well at a big price on debut and then finished runner-up at Epsom last time. He needs to prove he can handle this softer ground but if doing so looks the danger. Gold Medallist handles this ground so has a squeak on that basis.
