This looks a competitive 0-85 handicap but preference goes to MISS STORMY NIGHT (best priced at 11/4) in her bid for a four-timer.

The Clive Cox trained filly won at Salisbury in June off a mark of 58 before following up over this course and distance by four lengths off a mark of 63. A 10lb rise didn’t stop her from winning at Lingfield last time when she won by ½ length.

The handicapper has raised Miss Stormy Night 6lbs for that victory which on the face of it is harsh but she looks worth backing until she is beaten.

The Mick Appleby trained SNOW BERRY (best priced at 9/2) has won her past two races and bids to make it a course and distance hat-trick in this race. The six-year-old won by ½ length off a mark of 48 on her penultimate start before defying a 4lb rise to win by a neck last time.

The handicapper has raised Snow Berry 3lbs for that victory which is fair and she is expected to prove hard to beat with Ali Rawlinson once again on board.

Snow Berry - 0.5pts e/w

GOOD MORNING ALEX (best priced at 9/2) arrives in this race having won his previous three races including the last two at this track. The David & Nicola Barron trained three-year-old was an impressive 4 1/4 length winner at Wetherby in April off a mark of 58 before following up over 1m 1/2f here by five lengths in May off a mark of 64.

Good Morning Alex defied an 11lb rise to win by 1 1/4 lengths over this course and distance and is deserving of a 7lb rise from the handicapper given that both the second and third have won on their next start. He steps up in grade to this Class 3 contest but is progressing well and should prove hard to beat.

Good Morning Alex - 1pt

The David & Nicola Barron trained GENTLE ELLEN (best priced at 9/1) runs in this Class 4 handicap off bottom weight and she should run well with up to five places available. She won over this course and distance in October off a mark of 64 and has run well on her previous two starts at Haydock off this mark of 67.

Gentle Ellen was only beaten a length on her penultimate start before finishing 3rd by 1 1/2 lengths last time when sent off favourite. This drop to 6f shouldn’t inconvenience her and she looks sure to be involved in the finish.

Gentle Ellen - 0.5pts e/w
